Well Humanity didn’t make it easy on itself. The twin miracles of the Newton Manoeuvre and Kessler Jump Drives opened the paths to the stars; gravitic technology and genetic and environmental modification followed in their wake. And yet jealousy, greed, rivalry, war and all the old follies of Humankind remain. The stars would not simply fall into Terran hands; the heavens would have to be won.
Expansion and colonisation were fitful. Driven by the desperation of a poisonous over-crowded Earth, by curiosity and naked ambition and hindered in turn by reticence, recession and infighting. The discovery of life beyond Earth thrilled the adventurous almost as much as it made others fearful of what else might be lurking out in the black.
It is 2400. A new era dawns and Humankind has finally carved out a place for itself among the heavens. Now it is time to steel yourself for adventure; to scramble together enough credits for that frozen low berth ride to the new Colonies, to sling your bag over your shoulder and brave the gangplank to board that Frontier scout ship or to jack your Spacer pilot brain into the Kessler Drive interface and crest the swells of another dimension.
