Job Purpose
As a Backend Developer, you’ll design, implement, and maintain backend services for our multiplayer and progression systems. Your work will ensure real-time data syncing, cross-platform compatibility, and low-latency performance across consoles and PC. You’ll work closely with game engineers and system designers to build a robust and scalable foundation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement lightweight, scalable REST or WebSocket APIs for game services
- Develop backend infrastructure for multiplayer, matchmaking, player data, and cloud saves
- Integrate with backend tools like PlayFab, Photon, or custom backend stacks
- Optimize server performance for low-latency, cross-region multiplayer experiences
- Build secure systems for authentication, progression tracking, and analytics
- Work with game teams to sync data between clients and servers efficiently
- Monitor backend stability and performance across builds and releases
Requirements
- Experience developing backend systems for games (especially console or multiplayer titles)
- Strong knowledge of API design, cloud-based architecture, and real-time data syncing
- Familiarity with services like PlayFab, Photon, or custom server tech
- Proficient in backend development languages (e.g., Node.js, Go, Python, C#)
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Understanding of multiplayer netcode and game data serialization
- Bonus: Experience in setting up telemetry, crash logging, or live ops tools

- Gross annual salary: €35,000 – €55,000 (based on experience & engagement model)
