📖 The Weaving of Time
A mythic tale of how the months, days, and moons came to shape the world.
In the time before time, when the world was a canvas of stars and sea, there was no night, no hour, no heartbeat but the eternal drift of the cosmos. The earth was young then—Ellarune, the Waking Stone—floating in the void like a sleeping seed.
She had no form but that of raw land and sky, no rhythm but the wind. So the gods sent down Thalor, the First Keeper, an ageless being with silver eyes who bore a single mission: to bring order to the endless.
🌍 The Earth’s Awakening
Thalor stepped onto Ellarune and whispered to her mountains. He named the rivers, taught the trees how to sway, and with a great strike of his staff, split the darkness into three lights—the moons, to guide the world through eternity.
🌕 The Three Moons
- Selunari, the Silver Dream, was crafted from a tear of mercy shed by Thalor when he saw the first mortal cry in pain. She soothes, heals, and watches silently.
- Kaelvyr, the Blood Lantern, was made from a splinter of Thalor’s regret after unleashing fire into the world. It burns with chaos, always seeking change.
- Virema, the Hollow Moon, was whispered into being by Ellarune herself—her secret eye, watching Thalor. It slips in and out of sight, tied to the world’s mysteries.
These moons began to turn around the earth, and their dance gave rise to tides, seasons, and cycles.
🗓️ The Invention of Months
But the people could not understand the moons alone. So Thalor climbed to the highest peak and carved ten stones, each etched with the rune of a feeling, a purpose, a time. These became the Ten Months — a divine calendar.
Each month was named after what Thalor felt when shaping it:
Months
- Duskwither – Often the first month of the year, a cold and twilight-heavy time.
- Emberglen – A spring month, where the woods begin to glow with life.
- Vaelstorm – Associated with turbulent winds and rain; sailors dread this one.
- Thornshade – A thorny, transitional month between spring and summer.
- Solvarin – A bright, sun-drenched summer month often tied to festivals.
- Cindermarch – Late summer, when harvest fires begin in the fields.
- Myrddenfall – A month of early autumn and magical festivals.
- Gravemoor – A somber, mist-shrouded month honoring the dead.
- Frostwane – The deep frost begins to take hold, and roads close.
- Nightrest – The final month, dark and quiet, when stars are clearest and time feels paused.
⏰ The Invention of Days
Still, the world spun too fast, and the people lost themselves in its rhythm. So Thalor struck his staff seven times into the ground and wove the days of the week from those echoes. But the earth, playful and imperfect, only held six.
Thus were born the Six Sacred Days:
Days
- Moonday – A calm day tied to reflection, rest, and lunar rituals.
- Emberday – Associated with fire, creation, and craftsmanship.
- Wyrmsday – A day of strength, training, and facing challenges; often martial.
- Thalor’s Eve – A mysterious day, favored by magic users and seers.
- Grainhold – A day for trade, labor, and community feasts; tied to agriculture.
- Dusenday – The week’s end, known for storytelling, offerings, and rest.
🌌 And So It Was
The people built temples to track the moons, hung calendars carved in bark, stone, and glass, and learned to live by the flow of days and months.
And though Thalor has not walked the earth in a thousand ages, it is said he still watches from the curve of Virema, keeping time – and secrets – forevermore.
